If the page you are on contains a Folder Tile you can use the + icon in the tile to create a new document, spreadsheet or folder. From the dropdown choose to add New Files/Folders. You can use Overdrive to create multiple documents, sheets or folders, to do so, write the titles of each on separate lines in the pop up box. To add multiple file types add another box by clicking on the green + button. New items will be created in the current folder view and you can then access the new files to edit them.
